What is your definition of faith ?

“Faith, a belief. A belief, we are having for a super natural power, a belief that we relate to what we do & how we do.”

What I m going to write about here  is all related to the faith we people are having for our God whom we haven’t seen but  we believe & that belief is our Faith.

We people are very strong for our

faith. We think if we go against it, it will cause us harm & if we do, it will be good for us. What we have heard or studied in epics / mythology, we believe to continue that even today & this is good also as we are carrying the culture & traditions along with us what our ancestors had passed on to us.

But what my opinion is, everything we do in the name of faith should result in the well being of human / nature.

Let me share my experience to you people that belongs to my first trip to Vaishnodevi. I went there along with one of my friend. As the hike from Katra to Bhawan is around 14 Kms I believe, that is quite long. We got little tired and were hiking with taking stoppage in between. Since it was my first trip to that place, so I wanted to be on my feet as long as I can or whole. 

At one stoppage, we sat & in front of us, a very old lady who was also doing the trek got tired & having pain in legs. Her family members were so worried, so they stopped a Pony & trying to convince her to take the services of pony to get to the Bhawan. But she denied.

What she said is “Mataji (Vaishno Maa) yhaan tak pahucha di to aage bhi pahucha hi dengi”  (if I get here I will manage to go further by her blessings)

and saying this she started walking.  I saw the pony man going with a blank face as he hadn’t got any customer. I was thinking if that woman had taken his services he would have got some money. After this incident, ‘a feeling of appreciation’ for those who were going on pony /pitthoos / palikees to Bhawan, came from my heart as they became the source of some body’s bread & butter. Salute for that lady too who had the strong will to do the trek.

Many people do various things just for the sake of their faith.

But I have created my definition of Faith - ‘A faith, every aspect of which must be related to well being of person’.

One more incident related to the faith we Hindus have for our deity.  Just a few days ago, on the day of Shivaratri, I went to a shop & for a pack of milk. I didn’t get the pack but got an reply “Madam Ji, Aaj Dudh khi nhi milega. Saara Bhole Ji par chadd gya.

While on the some corners of the city, people are dying of hunger, they’re not even getting water to drink, people are offering milk to a shrine which is going in drain.

Is this called Faith?

Faith should be, if we doesn’t let sleep a person hungry on festive days. Faith should be to do not let children dying of hunger.

Faith should be to offer Prasad / Bhog to those who are suffering from hunger rather than making a line to offer it to shrine made up of stone.

Rather than offering Chadar / Chunni to our God, we should offer cloth to the bare bodies that really needs it.

Rather than arranging meals for the family member only on the Pooja Day, it can also we done for those who are hungry.

If wants to acknowledge God, do help those needy people who are not having even the basic necessities because God can’t see any of his child let hungry & he will give more to those who will feed them.

Find every possible way you can help somebody, because this is the real reason we are here on this planet.  Create your definition of Faith that describes the benefit of people in it words & acts.
